Terrible Death
Dragged From trapeze and Fell Sixty-Five Feet
Kid Hanner, a balloonist met a terrible death at Henderson on Saturday
while making an ascension at the close of the tri-County Fair. A dangerous
wind was blowing as the balloon ascended and swept the aeronaut to the
top of a high tree, where he was dragged from the trapeze and fell a distance
of about sixty-five feet. Both arms were broken, the bones protruding through
the flesh and several ribs were crushed in besides other injuries. He regained
consciousness but died within thirty minutes after the accident. Hanner's
home was in Cincinnati where the remains were sent Sunday.
