  • Sam Kelly has a patent on a wagon body.

  • Capt Dodds, of Pocahontas and Mr. H. Wickham, of Philadelphia, were guests of Col. May this week.

  • S. C. Painter, of Marion, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Pierce.

  • An epidemic of cholera in Scott county among hogs has caused great loss. it is reported that 5,000 hogs have died from the disease.

  • The Ku Klux Klan have been doing some lively work in the east end of the county.

  • Miss Gillespie, daughter of Geo. W. Gillespie, had the misfortune to break her arm by overturning of a buggy at Cedar Bluff, Monday.

  • Miss Millie Belcher died at the home of her brother near Liberty last week. 

  • James F. Boone died on the morning of August 20th.
