Crockett Shrader

  Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon for Samuel Crockett Shrader, aged 81, a life long resident of Crockett's Cove, who died at his home Saturday. Rev. H.A. Phillips, pastor of the Crockett's Cove church, of which Mr. Shrader had been an active member for many years performed the rites at the home and burial was in the family cemetery nearby. He leaves a widow, who before marriage was Miss Mary Jane Davis, a native of Carroll county, who with her parents moved to Tazewell county shortly after the War Between the States. On the 29th of March, last this venerable couple celebrated the 59th anniversary of their marriage. Mrs. Shrader is ten years the senior. Mr. Shrader was a son of Daniel K. and Jane Books (sic) Shrader, both of whom were born and reared in Crockett's Cove and died in the same year, 1893. Besides the aged widow, Mr. Shrader is survived by five children, George P. Shrader, N&W conductor of Bluefield, WV.; Mrs. Birdie Beavers, Miss Roxie Shrader, Watts and Dudley G. Shrader, all of Crockett's Cove. Two brothers, Albert Shrader, of Squire WV, and John Shrader of Poor Valley also survive.
