Feb 9, 1957 --

J.H. HARRISON -- J. H. Harrison, 82, died Sunday at his home in Squire, WV.  He was preceded in death by his wife and two children. There survives three sons, Bud of War; Carl of Havaco; James of Squire; six daughters, Mrs. Rose
Medley of Renick; Mrs. W. H. Murray of North Tazewell; Mrs. Kenneth Gillespie of Tazewell; Mrs. Charles Goodman, Miss Hattie Harrison both of Squire.

ELLER BEAVERS -- Eller Beavers, aged 52, a Bandy farmer was found dead last Thursday afternoon in the yard of his home.  It was stated that death was due to a heart attack he suffered Tuesday morning.  He was born at Bandy, a son of the late Thomas and Lula Mitchell Beavers, both natives of Tazewell county.  He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Earnest Lynn of Bandy and Mrs. Lessie Bryant of Clintwood; one brother, William Beavers of Bandy, one half sister, Mrs. Hazel Blankenship, of Cedar Bluff, one step sister, Mrs. Billey Harrison of Bandy, one half brother, Junior Beavers of Cedar Bluff and  one step brother, Gally Bryant of Bandy.

JONAH ROBERT TOTTEN -- Jonah Robert Totten, 69 years of age, of Pounding Mill, died at his home last Friday.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gay Nell Hagy Totten, four sons John and Henry Totten, both of Pounding Mill; Charlie of Radford, and Luther Totten of
Chicago IL. Seven daughters, Miss Beulah Totten, Mrs. Tom Hill, Mrs. Paul Hill, all of Pounding Mill; Mrs. John Richardson, and Mrs. Bill Harrison, both of Cliffield; Mrs. James Ball and Mrs. Henry Nipper,
all of Cedar Bluff.

JAMES R. KINDER -- James Robert Kinder of
Millersburg, Ohio, a former resident of Tazewell county, died last Thursday in the Veterans Hospital in Cleveland Ohio.  He was a son of the late Jacob and Ellen Kinder.  he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bessie Kinder; three sons, Leland, witht he US Army overseas;  Robert, of Rocky Gap, Allen, at home; and six daughters Darlene and Jackie, both at home; Mrs. Catherine Stutts of Norfolk; Mrs. Margaret Stevenson of Florida; Jean and Juanita; and one brother, Joe Kinder of Bluefield; three sisters; Mrs. Lillie Remines, of Falls Mills; Mrs. Gray Johnson of Bluefield and Mrs. Susie McFarland of Tazewell.  Funeral services were held at the Concord Methodist Church, near Gratton, Sunday.

BOWEN EDWARDS -- Bowen Edwards, 53, died suddenly at his home in
Baltimore, Maryland Feb. 3rd.  Survivors include a foster son, Jimmie; two sisters Miss Fern Edwards of Galax; Mrs. W. H. Repass of North Tazewell; and five brothers;  Leland Edwards of Burkes Garden; Bob Edwards, Portsmouth; Meek Edwards, Tazewell; Cujar Edwards, Galax and R.W. Edwards, Johnson City, Tenn. Burial was in Baltimore.

Mar 25, 1957 --

CYNTHIA NEWTON -- Mrs. Cynthia Newton, formerly of Bluefield, Va. Died Sunday at the home of a son, James A. Newton in Roanoke.  She was 88.  Mrs. Newton was the last survivor of 10 children of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Witten, whose family settled in
Tazewell County in the year 1777.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Milton Newton and a son, John Milton Jr. her parents and nine brothers and sisters.  The following children survive: James A. Newton of Roanoke; Dr. Maury Newton Sr. Of Narrows, a member of the State Legislature; C. Waylan Newton of Bluefield, Va.; the Rev Rufus Newton of Rocky Gap. Va; R. Kenneth Newton, of Glendale Az.; and Miss Cynthia Newton of Roanoke;  16 Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  A daughter, Mrs. A. M. Renick, died at her home in Roanoke Monday.  Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Baptist church in Bluefield. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

DANIEL CROUSE -- Daniel Crouse of Boissevain died Saturday at his home.  He is survived by his wife, the former Hattie Sparks; a son, Richard Thomas of California, and four sisters, Mrs. Jim McGuire of Bluefield, Va; Mrs. Bob Rye of North Tazewell; Mrs. Bayton Dickenson of Florida and Grober Whitt of Bandy

JOHN V. BELCHER -- John Virgil Belcher of Tamcliff, near Gilbert WV died Monday in a Welch hospital.  He was a native of
Tazewell County, a son of the late Henderson and Ella Roberts Belcher.  He married the former Minerva Mullins who survives.
