March 12, 1964 --

SALLIE NEEL -- Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth Neel, 99, died Sat. Morning at her home at
Cove Creek, Va.  She was the widow of Andrew B. Neel.  Surviving are six sons, John Marvin and Claude Neel of Bastian Va. Robert Neel of Poolesville, Md. and Ernest Neel of Frederick Md. four daughters, Lora Shufflebarger and Sue Neel of Bastian, Stella Howery of North Tazewell Va. and Pearl Thompson of Roanoke. Va. Funeral services were Monday afternoon from Greever Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.

R. MASON HALL -- Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2pm in North Tazewell Va. Methodist Church for R. Mason Hall 66 of North Tazewell who died Wed. in St. Lukes Hospital.  Rev. Lee Hill and Rev Ray Harris officiated and burial was in
Maplewood Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Alfred Torrence, Oscar George, J.C. Ireson, Steve Sulic, C.H. Hayes, Ed Greever, and Jim Bailey.  Hall, an area salesman a member of the North Tazewell Methodist Church, and a veteran of World War I was a member of North Tazewell Lions Club, American Legion and Elks Lodge of Roanoke Va. He was born in Burkes Garden Va and was a son of Mary Louise Hall now of Marion Va and the late James W. Hall.  In addition to his mother survivors include his wife Eloise Peery Hall; two sisters Mrs. Bill Waltermon of Norris Tenn. and Mrs. Hugh Hutton of Marion and a brother Leon Hall of Crewe, Va.

MATTIE MATHENA -- Mrs. Mattie Dean Mathena, 88 wife of Charles E. Mathena of Route 1,
North Tazewell, Va. died Sat. in Bluefield Sanitarium.  Also surviving are three sons, Lynn Mathena of War, Albert Mathena of Fredericksburg, Va. and Carl Mathena of Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Claude Wimmer and Mrs. E. F.  Sypers of Roanoke, Va. and Lucille Bowling of Arlington, Va. 25 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren.  Other survivors are two brothers, Sidney Dean of Spray, NC. and Mason Dean of Marion Va; two sisters, Mrs Comer Powell of Marion and Cora Burnop of Salem, Va. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1 pm in Riverside Methodis church. Rev. Lee Hill officiated and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
