John Newton Harman, Sr.  Annals of Tazewell County, 1800-1922, in Two Volumes (Richmond VA:  W. C. Hill Publishing Co., 1922), Reissued as 2 vols. in 1 in 1975 by Netti Schreiner-Yantis, Springfield, VA, Vol. I.  Extracted and submitted by:  June White

"Antioch is believed to have been the first organization of the Disciples of Christ in Tazewell County.  A log church house was erected in Bluestone Valley, about five miles below Springville...Later, the members formed other congregations in other neighborhoods, which so depleted Old Antioch that regular services were abandoned...Many of the old members of Antioch and their descendants became members of Springfield, Bluefield, VA, and Falls Mils Churches."  (Vol. 2, p. 320)
