Colonel Henry Bowen, son of Lieut. Rees Bowen who fell at King's Mountain. He was born at Maiden Spring on March 18th., 1770, and died at the place of his birth April 18th., 1850.  He was one of the justices of the first county court of Tazewell, was a Captain in the War of 1812, represented the county several times in the House of Delagates, and left a splendid estate to his two sons, Gen. Rees T. and Col. Henry S. Bowen.
