  John W. Laird, 65, a former well known resident of Tazewell, died Monday night at his home in Tampa Fla., following a long illness.  The body was brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Jas. W. Harman, in Tazewell, Wednesday night.  Funeral service was held in the Main Street Methodist church Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, immediately following the Thanksgiving service in the Episcopal church.  Rev. L.W. Pierce, a friend and associate of the deceased, will be in charge of the service, and was assisted by the Rev. T. Paul Sims, Main Street Mr. E. Church pastor.  The burial took place in the new cemetery.  The deceased, a son of the late Samuel and Mrs. Laird, well known Tazewell County people, is survived by his wife, the former Eva Cooley, of Tazewell; three sisters, Mrs. Cassindra Laird, of Tazewell, and Mrs. Marea Ratcliff, of Hereford, Texas; Jas R. Laird of Huntington and T.O. Laird, of Charleston.  John Laird was for many years engaged in the printing business in Tazewell.
