Funeral services were held last Saturday at Big Stone Gap for M.C. McCorkle, who died at his home in Big Stone Gap last Wednesday at the age of 78.  Mr. McCorkle was well known in Tazewell and Southwest Virginia, and was engaged in the lumber business for the past 35 years and had made his home at Big Stone Gap with his son.  Mr. McCorkle had been active in business and community affairs for many years and was a member of the Christian church; member of the Masonic Lodge at Peterstown, W.V; Knights Templars at Tazewell and the Kazim Temple of Shriners of Roanoke.
