He was born in Tazewell County, Va., to Isaac A. and Eva Michaels Jones. He was a self- employed painter.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Hess Jones; three daughters, Mrs. Carol Jones Tolley of Winston-Salem and Miss Janice Lavone Jones and Wanda Rebecca Jones of the home; six sons, Bobby Jean Jones of Pinnacle, Paul J. Jones Jr. of Stanleyville, Ronnie Lee Jones of Salina, Kan.,and Jerry Wayne Jones, Larry Michael and Ricky Brent Jones of the home; Two sisters, Mrs. Edna Byrner of Beckley, W. Va., and Mrs. Emmaline Pruitt of Wheeling, W. Va.; and a brother, George P. Jones of Richlands, Va.
