 "The first Presbyterians in the county were William Perry, Samuel Walker and his wife.  Prof. Doak preached the first sermon to them, somewhere around 1798.  He was soon followed by Rev. Mr. Crawford from Washington County."  (Vol. 2, p. 318)

In the Cove, in 1833, with  Rev. Dugald McIntyre assisted by Rev. Mr. McEwin.  Church was closed before 1851.

SECOND CHURCH: Organized at Jeffersonville in the summer of 1851, under Rev. Mr. Naff;  In 1851, known as the Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church;  by 1922, known as the Tazewell Presbyterian Church.  Organized:  Sept. 14, 1851 by Rev. I.N.
