Howard was the son of Alexander & Maudie (Gray) PROFFITT.  Juanita was the daughter of William C. & Myrtle S. (Hutchison) NEACE. 
The couple was married in Tazewell County on 27 December, 1938.  They were the parents of four sons:  Arthur, James, Richard and Everett.
