Hugh Umphrey Mathena, b.March 16, 1885,  Tip Top, Tazewell County,  VA. d. February 15, 1915 in the Welch, McDowell County, WV. hospital.  Wife: Orla California McNew, b. July 25,1887, d. May 22, 1961 in Vinton, VA.
Hugh was a son of Stephen Paris Mathena and Martha Ellen Tabor, Tip Top, VA.   Orla was the daughter of Henry McNew and Sarah Belcher.
Hugh and Orla were living in Goodwill, Mercer Co. WV at the time of his death.  Hugh is buried in the Mathena Cemetery in Tip Top, Tazewell County, VA.
